Mr. O’Brien joins WC Law Corporation with over two decades of litigation experience in administrative, military, and criminal law.
Mr. O'Brien most recently served as an Immigration Judge with the U.S. Department of Justice, adjudicating thousands of cases during his more than eight years on the bench. Prior to that, Mr. O'Brien worked for the Department of Homeland Security as a prosecutor and agency legal advisor, where he conducted hundreds of court hearings, advised management and Special Agents on a wide range of legal issues, and provided legal training to law enforcement officers. In addition, Mr. O'Brien has served as an officer in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Corp since 2001. He was on Active Duty from 2001 to 2008 and then transferred to the Army Reserve, where he continues to serve. As an Army lawyer he’s held a wide range of positions, including as a prosecutor, defense attorney, administrative law attorney, instructor in National Security Law, and in various levels of leadership and command.
Mr. O'Brien earned his Juris Doctor from the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco (previously UC Hastings College of the Law). He also holds a B.S in Journalism from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, and an M.S. in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College.
Born and raised in the Bay Area, Mr. O'Brien enjoys traveling, mountain biking, playing his guitar, and cheering on the often-frustrating 49ers, Giants, and Warriors. At home in Marin County, he spends most of his free time with his wife and their three children, along with their pets.
